Anthony Joshua has been involved in a car accident in Nigeria that has killed two people, according to local police.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The former two-time heavyweight champion has reportedly escaped with minor injuries after his vehicle collided with another on Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Joshua, 36, was holidaying in Nigeria after his knockout victory over Jake Paul<\/a> on December 19.<\/p>\n

He was travelling in the back of a Lexus on the very busy Lagos-Ibadan expressway, known as one of the most dangerous roads in the country.<\/p>\n

It’s reported that he was travelling from the family home to Lagos, Nigeria’s biggest city.<\/p>\n

At the time of writing, there was little news regarding the identities of the two people who were devastatingly killed in the accident.<\/p>\n

Five adult males were involved in the accident in total, including Joshua, who endured “minor injuries.”<\/p>\n

Footage has emerged on social media of officials helping Joshua out of the car.<\/p>\n

The British heavyweight is in obvious discomfort and pain as he winces while others surround the vehicle.<\/p>\n

Reports from the Federal Road Safety Corps in Nigeria claim the Lexus was suspected to be travelling “beyond the legally prescribed speed limit”.<\/p>\n

It’s claimed the car attempted an overtake but lost control and crashed into a stationary truck.<\/p>\n

Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has spoken to the Daily Mail, and said: \u201cI am away on a family holiday and awoke to the news of this incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are trying to contact Anthony and in the meantime we don\u2019t want to speculate on how he is but thankfully he appears OK from what I have seen in the images.<\/p>\n

“We are awaiting more information on what has happened and will update in due course.\u201d<\/p>\n
