Leicester City and Blackburn are two Championship clubs in the running to sign Bulgarian international Fabian Nurnberger.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Both sides are hoping to strengthen during the January transfer window to help ease the growing pressure on the manager’s shoulders.<\/p>\n

The Foxes’ Marti Cifuentes is the current favourite in the Championship manager sack race<\/a> after another defeat against Coventry at the weekend.<\/p>\n

This season’s play-off hopefuls are currently 13th and six points adrift of the top six, with reports suggesting Russell Martin may be the next Leicester manager<\/a> if the opportunity arises.<\/p>\n

Valerien Ismael is also under scrutiny with his side just a point adrift of the relegation spots.<\/p>\n

Former Shelbourne boss Damien Duff could be in the running to become the next Blackburn Rovers manager<\/a> should Ismael get the sack.<\/p>\n

Leicester and Blackburn chase Fabian Nurnberger<\/h2>\n

Reports suggest 26-year-old left-back Nurnberger is wanted by the Championship duo as well as clubs in Germany.<\/p>\n

Nurnberger currently plays his football for SV Darmstadt 98 in the second tier of German football, with his side in third.<\/p>\n

He’s made 11 league appearances this season but has been in and out of the team since October with a knee injury.<\/p>\n

Nurnberger’s contract with Darmstadt expires at the end of the season, and therefore, they would be willing to let him leave for a nominal fee or risk losing him for nothing.<\/p>\n

Although born in Germany, he represents the <\/span>Bulgarian national team<\/span>.<\/span> He made his debut in September 2024 and has earned 10 caps in total.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

N\u00fcrnberger is a left-footed utility player who primarily operates as a left-back or left midfielder, but he is also capable of playing as a defensive or central midfielder.<\/p>\n

He is often described as a “wide Playmaker,” sitting in the 94th percentile for chances created among players in his position.<\/p>\n

Leicester and Blackburn are set to face competition from Hannover 96 and Holstein Kiel, but the player may fancy a new challenge in a different league.<\/p>\n

Leicester looking at attackers<\/h2>\n

Leicester are plotting to bolster their attacking options and are thought to be closing in on the signing of striker Ibrahim Diabate.<\/span><\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

The development comes after previous transfer target Lyndon Dykes opted to join Charlton.<\/p>\n

Diabate currently plays for Swedish side GAIS and finished as joint top scorer in the\u00a0Allsvenskan<\/span><\/span> last season with 18 goals.<\/p>\n

Leicester have struggled for a consistent goalscorer all season, with midfielder Jordan James currently leading the charts with nine.<\/p>\n
