Blackburn Rovers have called for unity with supporters set to protest the club’s home games starting this weekend.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Rovers host Watford on Saturday without a win in seven games in all competitions and having dropped into the relegation places.<\/p>\n

Results have put boss Valerien Ismael under huge pressure, and he heads into the game second favourite in the Championship sack race.<\/a><\/p>\n

Former Shelbourne manager Damien Duff remains the favourite to become the next Blackburn boss<\/a> should Ismael get the sack.<\/p>\n

Blackburn Rovers Fans Set To Protest<\/h2>\n

Blackburn Rovers Supporters Coalition released a statement last month which shared their frustrations and anger towards owners, The Venky’s.<\/p>\n

That resentment is down to numerous factors of the overall running of the club, including but not limited to “botched transfer windows”, a decaying stadium, a lack of investment and the banning of the local media.<\/p>\n

They are also citing the lack of engagement and accountability as a factor towards the boycott.<\/p>\n

Following an open letter to the owners, which clearly made note of the disillusionment surrounding the club, the fan group failed to receive a reply.<\/p>\n

They then posted on social media: “3 weeks and still no reply. Only one course of action left to us.<\/p>\n

“Boycott the Watford game 24th Jan. Send a clear message to Suhail Pasha. It is more our club than it is the Raos. We will be heard.”<\/p>\n

The Coalition now plan to boycott every home game, reducing revenue through ticket sales, food and merchandise until the owners sell the club.<\/p>\n

Similarly in the Premier League, West Ham supporters are planning a boycott<\/a> against their owners in Saturday’s game with Sunderland.<\/p>\n

Blackburn Rovers Call For Unity<\/h2>\n

Blackburn Rovers have released a statement urging support of the players as a collective and help “produce performances the fans can be proud of.”<\/p>\n

It read: “The club recognises and respects the strength of feeling among sections of the fanbase and understands that supporters care deeply about the future of the club.<\/p>\n

“However, at this crucial stage of the season, we firmly believe the team needs the full backing of its supporters, as we look to overcome what has been a challenging run of results.<\/p>\n

“With a number of key players expected to return from injury over the coming weeks, the club remains confident the squad can deliver a stronger second half of the season \u2013 but achieving that progress will require the continued support of our fans.<\/p>\n

“We therefore urge all Rovers supporters to show unity and support to the team, as we work collectively to climb the table and produce performances and results the fans can be proud of.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
