Harvey Elliott faces more months of frustration after Aston Villa and Liverpool failed to come up with an agreement to terminate his loan.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The midfielder will now continue to be sidelined by boss Unai Emery, with his career stuck in limbo due to a disastrous transfer saga.<\/p>\n

Harvey Elliott Faces More Frustration<\/h2>\n

According to The Athletic, there were no recent talks between the two clubs to remove the 10-game obligation as part of the loan deal.<\/p>\n

If Elliott plays 10 games for Villa, the club will need to sign him permanently for around \u00a330million.<\/p>\n

However, boss Emery has made it abundantly clear that they don’t want to sign<\/a> the 22-year-old on a permanent deal.<\/p>\n

The deal to bring Elliott to the Midlands was completed by Villa’s former Director of Football, Monchi, who left the club in September.<\/p>\n

As it stands, Elliott has made seven appearances, meaning he can play two more matches before Villa have to stump up the cash to sign him permanently.<\/p>\n

The report adds that Villa would have had to pay a termination fee to let him return to Liverpool, while the Premier League champions didn’t want him back.<\/a><\/p>\n

Due to FIFA rules, a player can\u2019t feature for more than two European sides during a season, having featured for Liverpool in the second game of the season.<\/p>\n

It’s a sorry state of affairs for the player who has seen a year of crucial development fall by the wayside.<\/p>\n

Elliott has remained quiet on his current situation and he has reportedly shown a positive attitude around the club despite his lack of gametime.<\/p>\n

Other Losers From January Transfer Window<\/h2>\n

Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta failed to get his move to AC Milan after the Italian giants pulled out of a deal<\/a> following his medical.<\/p>\n

Mateta was on the verge of getting his wish by leaving Selhurst Park in a \u00a335million deal until a concern over a previous knee injury saw AC Milan turn their backs on the transfer.<\/p>\n

The striker will now face a battle to be integrated into the Palace squad following the arrival of Jorgen Strand Larsen.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, Crystal Palace pulled out of a late deal to sign Dwight McNeil after agreeing on a \u00a320m fee with Everton.<\/p>\n
