In addition to the normal horse racing meetings on Friday 20th September, fans will also have the added bonus of being able to attend the City Of Troy Southwell racecourse gallop. As connection put the final pieces of preparation into this Breeders’ Cup Classic bid in early November.

Over 1,500 Racing Fans Expected At Southwell To Witness City Of Troy Breeders’ Cup Gallop<\/strong><\/h2>\n

There is no actual racing at Southwell racecourse on Friday 20th September but the Nottinghamshire track is gearing up for one of its biggest days on the racing calendar – **WATCH** the full gallop below.<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n

This is due to one of the best racehorses in training at the moment – City Of Troy<\/a> – using the Southwell all-weather track for a Breeders’ Cup gallop as connection ready their Epsom Derby winner for one of the biggest races in America.<\/p>\n

Over 1,500 horse racing<\/a> fans are expected at Southwell on Friday night too. With these having already taken up the free entry that the track is offering – meaning a nice little payday for the track with racegoers sure to be tucking into some refreshments at the course.<\/p>\n

With the course saying they will be open from 1pm, with open bars, the Tote open to bet on other meetings and also a big screen, with the gallop being broadcast around the globe.<\/p>\n

Southwell clerk of the course John Holliday said about the interest the gallop has attracted “Lots. Certainly more than we were expecting! We have 1,200 people booked in already with tickets and we’re expecting quite a few walk-up. So, it could be nearer 1,500 by the time we get to Friday.<\/em><\/p>\n

“When it was initially discussed we expected a fair bit of excitement, but he’s a horse who’s really captured people’s imagination and if he were to win the Classic it would be great. As I said to Mr O’Brien, if we can play a small part, it would be fantastic.”<\/em><\/p>\n
