{"id":8423,"date":"2024-09-21T14:34:33","date_gmt":"2024-09-21T14:34:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/?p=8423"},"modified":"2024-09-21T14:34:33","modified_gmt":"2024-09-21T14:34:33","slug":"eddie-hearn-ben-shalom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/eddie-hearn-ben-shalom\/","title":{"rendered":"Eddie Hearn Pokes Fun at Rival Promoter Ben Shalom With Tongue-in-Cheek Apology Following On-Stage Rift"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Eddie Hearn Ben Shalom beef that been rumbling below the surface this week has reached new heights, with the promoter pair exchanging unpleasantries ahead of Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Eddie Hearn Ben Shalom Rift Reaches Comical Climax<\/h2>\n<p>Matchroom Boxing chief <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/news\/eddie-hearn-net-worth-career-earnings-business-ventures\/\">Eddie Hearn<\/a> has been busy promoting Anthony Joshua&#8217;s IBF heavyweight title fight with Daniel Dubois this week.<\/p>\n<p>While the attention has been firmly fixed on the all-British pair, Hearn himself has been embroiled in tensions of his own.<\/p>\n<p>The build-up to Saturday&#8217;s main event at Wembley has been brimming with clashes between Hearn and BOXXER head Ben Shalom.<\/p>\n<p>Most notably, Thursday saw the bickering reach new heights as the pair were spotted in the midst of a heated discussion while Joshua Buatsi and Willy Hutchinson &#8211; who will appear in the ring as undercard fighters &#8211; staged their press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Shalom has since revealed he jokingly made a sly dig at Hearn being on stage, despite none of his fighting clients featuring in the press conference at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Hearn is said to have taken the jibe to heart, and threatened to &#8220;knock him out.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He said he was going to knock me out,\u201d Shalom told IFL TV.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI said, as a joke, \u2018I didn\u2019t realise this was your fight\u2019 or something like that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was literally a joke, but he wasn\u2019t too happy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not playing that game. I\u2019m not sinking to those levels. I\u2019m not here to fight.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">\u203c\ufe0f Eddie Hearn and Ben Shalom having an heated discussion just before the Sheeraz-Denny face off at their final press conference.<\/p>\n<p>Shalom said to <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IFLTV?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@IFLTV<\/a> that he told Hearn something like &#8220;I didn&#8217;t realise this was your fight&#8221;. Hearn allegedly responded by telling Shalom that he\u2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/la2I7YMyyb\">pic.twitter.com\/la2I7YMyyb<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 EverythingBoxing (@EverythingBoxi2) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EverythingBoxi2\/status\/1837198916749513200?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">September 20, 2024<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<div class=\"advert-wrapper advert-wrapper--outstream\">\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hearn has since fired his own retort in the direction of Shalom, and claims he too was only joking around.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> However, he went on to issue an apology &#8211; albeit an incredibly insincere one &#8211; that is likely another thinly veiled dig at his fellow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportscasting.com\/uk\/boxing\/\">boxing<\/a> promoter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cHe came up to me and he said, \u2018Why are you up here for this fight?\u2019 And I said, \u2018I&#8217;ll knock you out!\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnd I felt really bad and I do have to apologise to him because it was when he started quivering and he went white like Casper the Ghost that I actually felt terrible.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnd as he was just joking to me, it was just a throwaway line.
