Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup clash between Newcastle and AFC Wimbledon has been postponed after ‘extensive overnight flooding’ at the League Two side’s stadium left the pitch looking ‘like a golf course’.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Newcastle United and AFC Wimbledon’s Carabao Cup<\/a> tie, due to take place on Tuesday evening, has officially been postponed due to ‘extensive overnight flooding’, with shock footage appearing to show a partially collapsed pitch at the Cherry Red Records Stadium.<\/p>\n

Video footage on social media showed the Wimbledon pitch resembling a golf course, with sand on show where areas of the pitch have seemingly collapsed, while another clip revealed the extent of the flooding outside of the stadium blocking multiple entrances.<\/p>\n

The Dons confirmed the postponement of the match on their website. A rescheduled date for the clash has not yet been set.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe regret to inform supporters that due to extensive overnight flooding of the River Wandle and surrounding areas, including at our Cherry Red Records Stadium, Tuesday night\u2019s Carabao Cup third-round fixture against Newcastle United<\/a> has been postponed.” the statement read.<\/p>\n

\u201cMore information will follow in due course regarding fixture rearrangement. The stadium is closed until further notice.\u201d<\/p>\n

The postponement means that both sides will be included in Wednesday night’s fourth round draw, with the fourth round itself scheduled to commence during the week beginning October 28.<\/p>\n

A video from inside the ground revealed the shocking state of the pitch after flooding from the River Wandle, and the individual recording the video can be heard stating that the pitch ‘looks like a golf course’.<\/p>\n

Aerial footage from outside the ground showed the poor state of the pitch too, but also revealed the extent of the flooding in the concourse on the outer area of the stadium.<\/p>\n

A video shared on social media appears to show AFC Wimbledon's pitch damaged by the weather overnight. <\/p>\n
