Spanish golfing sensation Jon Rahm has previous comments about LIV Golf, the PGA Tour and DP World Tour come back to bite him as he makes complete U-turn.<\/strong><\/p>\n

‘Make A Choice’ – Old Jon Rahm Comments Come Back To Bite Him<\/h2>\n

Despite previously being of the opinion that it was ‘not right’ for professional golfers to compete across LIV Golf, the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, Jon Rahm<\/a> wants to do exactly that.<\/p>\n

The two-time major champion returns to the DP World Tour for the first time in a non-major event since making the switch to LIV Golf last December, as he features in the Spanish Open<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n

Rahm has been vocal in the past about players competing across all three professional golf<\/a> tours, insisting it shouldn’t be allowed and players must “make a choice” one way or another.<\/p>\n

That is a far cry from what Rahm is saying now. Despite being currently banned from the PGA Tour and having outstanding suspensions and fines to pay on the DP World Tour, Rahm has admitted he full intends to play across all three tours moving forward.<\/p>\n

The Spaniard needs to play a number of DP World Tour events in order to qualify for the 2025 Ryder Cup<\/a>, and recently launched a formal appeal against his DP World Tour sanctions, meaning he can play on the European circuit in the meantime.<\/p>\n

Rahm Now Wants To ‘Play Freely Between Tours and Enjoy The Game Of Golf’<\/h3>\n

The Saudi Public Investment Fund, the backers of the breakaway LIV Golf tour, and the PGA Tour are currently at loggerheads over a deal to reunite the game of professional golf.<\/p>\n

Ahead of his first appearance in a non-major event on the DP World Tour since December 2023, Jon Rahm<\/a> was asked what type of agreement he envisions for golf’s future.<\/p>\n

“Just one that allows us to play freely between tours and enjoy the game of golf,”<\/em> explained Rahm.<\/p>\n

This is a far cry from what Rahm was saying 20 months ago, when he commented: “I can’t see a solution where you can have players bouncing back and forth.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The 2023 Masters champion and 2021 US Open winner also had this to say 20 months ago about whether PGA Tour players can compete on both it and LIV Golf, with the breakaway league events held in autumn:<\/p>\n

“No. God no. I think you should make a choice. If you want to play, go ahead. Play in 20 events, plus another 14, then the Ryder Cup, that’s a lot of tournaments to play. Especially going around the world,”<\/em> Rahm said.<\/p>\n

“I don’t necessarily think you should be able to do both. I’m not judging anybody. Feel free, take the money, go to LIV, do want you want. But for me, double-dipping doesn’t seem like it’s the right thing to do.”<\/em><\/p>\n

It seems now Rahm is singing from a completely different hymn sheet all together.<\/p>\n
