What Is Alex Rodriguez Doing Now?

Alex Rodriguez was a polarizing figure during his baseball career. For a long time, he held the record for biggest MLB contract ever while taking performance-enhancing drugs. In the years since he retired, though, Rodriguez has turned public opinion around as he took media jobs.

The infielder also frequently headlines gossip pages thanks to his engagement to popular singer and actress Jennifer Lopez. Want more details? Here’s what Rodriguez is doing in his post-baseball life.

Alex Rodriguez’s MLB career

A-Rod spent 22 seasons in the majors with the Mariners, Rangers, and Yankees. At the end of his career, he had some of the best offensive numbers ever. Rodriguez had a .295 career average with 696 home runs and 2,086 RBI, placing him fourth all-time in homers and third in runs driven in.

The infielder’s 2,021 runs scored are the eighth-most in MLB history. His career WAR is an impressive 117.8, 16th most in history, but he led the American League in WAR five times in his career; his career-best WAR is 10.4 in 2000.

Rodriguez’s accolades don’t seem to end. He won three MVP awards in his career — 2003, 2005, and 2007 — and was part of the Yankees’ World Series championship team in 2009. Well-compensated for his skill, A-Rod earned about $450 million during his playing career.

A-Rod’s entertainment and sports ventures

Rodriguez’s most high-profile gig is also the most logical. He’s become a MLB analyst, working for both Fox and ESPN. The 44-year-old is part of the Sunday Night Baseball broadcast for ESPN while serving as a studio analyst for Fox, mainly in the postseason.

A-Rod has drawn rave reviews for his studio work, though people aren’t so enamored by his game analysis. He has also hosted a show for CNBC called Back in the Game.

In the series, Rodriguez uses his business and financial acumen to help celebrities who’ve fallen on hard times try to restart their careers and improve their better financial situations.

More than 100 million Super Bowl LIV viewers will likely see the MLB star on February 2, 2020, as he’s reportedly made a commercial set to air during the game. A-Rod has also started a YouTube channel, which is approaching 200,000 subscribers less than three years after launching.

Alex Rodriguez’s other ventures

CEO of A-ROD Corp, Rodriguez manages investments across many industries. The firm has invested in companies like Snapchat and Wheels Up, a private aviation company. The MLB star has also endorsed brands like Nike, Rawlings, Topps, and JBL Harman.

Non-sports fans also know Rodriguez from his romance with Jennifer Lopez. The couple have been dating for a few years, and Rodriguez proposed to Lopez last year while they vacationed in the Bahamas. They have not yet set a wedding date, with Lopez telling Entertainment Tonight they are “going to just take [their] time and do it right.”

Both Rodriguez and Lopez are busy with a lot of projects, including Lopez’s film career, so they have plenty to keep them busy before they officially tie the knot. Even when they pick a date, it’s possible we won’t find out about the wedding until after it takes place. After all, Rodriguez is one-half of a hugely famous couple.
