There are only a handful of UFC fighters who are considered as potentially being the GOAT, or greatest of all time, and Georges St-Pierre is one of them. Throughout his long UFC career, he’s won many fights and multiple belts. Here’s a look at Georges St-Pierre and his impressive net worth.
A look at Georges St-Pierre’s career
St-Pierre, or GSP, started fighting in the UFC in 2004, and it was clear that he was something different. In late 2004 and with a record of 7-0, he challenged UFC legend Matt Hughes for the 170-pound welterweight belt. That said, the much more experienced Hughes managed to submit St-Pierre in the first round.
Taking this loss in stride, GSP fought and beat five men in a row before he rematched with Hughes for the title. This time, GSP knocked Hughes out and won the belt.
Unfortunately for St-Pierre though, in his next fight, he himself got knocked out, this time by Matt Serra. But, once again, GSP took this loss in stride, and he has not lost a single fight ever since.
He knocked Serra out a year later to reclaim his belt, and that’s when he started dominating the UFC’s welterweight division. He defended his belt against big names, too, such as B.J. Penn, Carlos Condit, and Nick Diaz. After defending his title one more time in 2013 against Johny Hendricks, GSP vacated the belt.
He returned in 2017 to fight Michael Bisping for the 185-pound middleweight title, and he came out on top. This win gave him a 26-2 record, but after this win, St-Pierre seems to have retired again. With that said, he has expressed interest in returning to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov, but this fight may or may not happen in the future.
All the gigs that GSP got in the meanwhile
While many UFC champs get popular, few champs have become as popular as GSP has become. In fact, according to IMDb, Georges St-Pierre has been in quite a few movies and TV shows, especially during his first retirement. For example, in 2014, he starred as a minor villain in the Marvel movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
On top of that, since GSP is from Quebec, Canada, he is fluent in French, too. This has allowed him to become famous in both the English-speaking and the French-speaking world. This has also allowed him to be part of many TV shows and movies. For example, in 2016, he even hosted a TV show about dinosaurs.
And, as Bloody Elbow reported, GSP recently got himself a gig working for the UFC. Rather than fighting, however, he’ll be doing French commentary for the UFC.
How much is Georges St-Pierre worth?
While those showbiz gigs have earned him some money, it’s just the tip of the iceberg. Since St-Pierre was such a famous fighter who many people knew about, he also got himself plenty of sponsorships and endorsements. For instance, Celebrity Net Worth said that he has endorsement deals with major brands like Under Armour, Electronic Arts, and Bacardi.
When he was actively fighting, Celebrity Net Worth wrote that those endorsements earned him somewhere between $1 million to $2 million per fight. This is on top of what GSP earned from the UFC, which is impressive in its own right. As Celebrity Net Worth reported, GSP earned upwards of $5 million per fight due to his cut of the pay-per-view sales.
This doesn’t include any bonuses that the UFC may have given him, either. In any case, Celebrity Net Worth estimated that, when all’s said and done, Georges St-Pierre has a net worth of about $30 million.
