ESPN’s Max Kellerman blossomed into a notable television personality throughout the years. The co-host of First Take has made a name for himself and is someone who’s not afraid to speak his mind on camera.
With all the success he’s had in sports and ESPN, he enjoys a nice marriage with his wife, Erin Manning Kellerman.
Max Kellerman’s early career in sports broadcasting
Kellerman started his broadcasting career as a teenager on a New York City public-access television cable TV program on professional boxing called Max on Boxing. He graduated from Columbia University in the late 1990s and received his degree in history. After graduating from Columbia, he was hired as an analyst on ESPN’s boxing series Friday Night Fights. In November of 2002, Kellerman became the original host of ESPN’s Around the Horn.
The show was very successful, but Kellerman and ESPN could not reach an agreement to remain with the network, and Kellerman left the network in early 2004. Kellerman spent some time with Fox Sports Net as he had his own show with the network. He also continued his boxing broadcast work at HBO. In 2007, he moved up to the HBO World Championship Boxing main team. He covered the Manny Pacquiao vs. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. fight in 2015 for HBO. Since he started his sports career, Kellerman has held numerous roles and has gained a lot of knowledge and experience.
Kellerman worked with different networks at the same time. In 2010, CNN hired him to weigh in on sports and pop culture issues on CNN American Morning and other programs. He also spent time serving as a contributor to MSNBC.
Max Kellerman joining First Take
In July of 2016, Kellerman replaced Skip Bayless on ESPN’s First Take. Alongside Stephen A. Smith and Molly Qerim, Kellerman fits right into the show as he and Smith are constantly going back and forth with each other. Whether it’s sports related or issues outside of sports, Kellerman always speaks his mind whether he agrees or disagrees with someone.
When watching First Take, there’s always a good chance that Kellerman and Smith will have their differences about a certain topic. Both of them keep the show entertaining, and people always are eager to hear what they have to say. When HBO decided to leave the boxing business at the end of 2018, Kellerman signed a multiyear contract with ESPN.
Max Kellerman has been married since 1994
Kellerman is a husband to Erin Manning Kellerman. The two have three daughters, Esther, Sam, and Mira. Max and Erin met in high school and started dating throughout college. They have been married for 26 years. According to idolpersona.com, Erin is an attorney. Max has a busy life and is not home that often. But he makes sure to cherish the times he spends with his wife and children whenever he is home.
Being married for 20 plus years is a significant accomplishment, and with Max constantly busy with his profession, he makes sure that he doesn’t forget about his family. If you look through Max’s Instagram page, you won’t see many photos of his wife or his children. Most of the photos are work-related. It looks as if Max keeps his marriage and family life private, which is totally understandable. Some people choose not to have people in their business outside of work. But one thing’s for certain, which is Max being a husband and father.
