They’ve been inseparable ever since. When Nunes won the women’s bantamweight belt in 2016, she became the first openly LGBTQ UFC champ.

Similar to her significant other, Nunes had a rocky start in MMA, since she lost her first pro fight. However, Nunes got her act together after she joined the UFC in 2013. So far, it seems like nobody’s been able to stop her.
After beating the future women’s flyweight champ, Valentina Shevchenko, Nunes fought and beat Miesha Tate for the bantamweight belt. In her first title defense, she knocked Ronda Rousey out in less than a minute, and a few fights later, she moved up in weight and knocked out Cris Cyborg in under a minute as well. With this shocking win, she became the first women’s double champ, and she’s been winning ever since.
Unlike many other double champs, Nunes has been able to defend both of her belts at the same time.
