Warriors Are Now 0-9 Against Nuggets Since October 2022

The Golden State Warriors entered Monday night’s nationally televised game against the Denver Nuggets as massive 12.5 point favorites. They were 14-1 with Jimmy Butler in the lineup, had home court advantage, and were playing a Denver team that was without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray.

Warriors Haven’t Beaten Nuggets Since March 2022

But the Nuggets, behind a 38 point performance from Aaron Gordon, pulled off an improbable upset. They defeated Steph Curry and company by a final score of 114-105, and extended a winning streak against Golden State that dates back to October 2022.

The two sides have faced off nine times since then, and the Nuggets have won each time. In fact, they’ve won all but one of their last 13 matchups with the Warriors. The 0-9 mark is the longest losing streak for Golden State against any team in the Steve Kerr era.

The streak doesn’t bode well for the Warriors this year. There is still plenty of standings shuffling to be done over the final month of the season, but the current seeding in the Western Conference have Denver in the 3 spot and Golden State back at number 6. If that were to hold, then the two would meet in the first round of the upcoming NBA playoffs.

The loss is a brutal one for Golden State. They not only lost to a team that was missing its two star players, but missed out on a chance to make up some ground in the West. The Minnesota Timberwolves have been hot on their tail, winners of 8 straight and just percentage points behind the Warriors for the 6th seed. But the Indiana Pacers snapped that win streak in an overtime victory on Monday night, giving Golden State the opportunity that they failed to captialize on.

The schedule for the Warriors is rather light for the rest of the season, but only after they take on the Milwaukee Bucks on the second night of a back-to-back on Tuesday.
