Angel Reese Joins Caitlin Clark On This Elite WNBA List

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese has often been the subject of scrutiny early in her WNBA career. Whether it be her off-court comments or her in-game shooting struggles, the 23-year-old is used to hearing noise from her haters. But she was in the news on Sunday for all the right reasons, and she had arguably her best game ever in her team’s much-needed victory over the Connecticut Sun.

And in doing so, she joined Caitlin Clark in an elite category.

Angel Reese Is Second-Youngest In WNBA History With Triple Double

Reese had never amassed more than five assists in a game before Sunday, never even flirting with the idea of a triple-double. She turned the tables against the Sun, dishing out 11 assists on the day, more than doubling her career high. It is the 4th-highest total of any WNBA player this season, tied with Clark in that category.

Reese is just the second player to achieve a triple-double this season, after Clark accomplished the feat in the Indiana Fever’s opening game.

The comparisons to Caitlin Clark’s achievements don’t stop there, though. At 23 years and 40 days old, Angel Reese is now the second-youngest player in WNBA history to record a triple-double, behind only Clark, who did it twice while the was 22.

Sabrina Ionescu originally held the mark at 23 years and 163 days old.

The performance, and the win, were big achievements for a team desperate for some success. Chicago entered the day with a record of just 2-7, tied for the second-worst record in the league, and were one of two teams with a negative point differential in the double digits.

In addition to Reese’s stat line of 11/13/11, Hailey Van Lith poured in 16 points off of the bench. Four of the team’s five starters finished with double figure scoring totals.

The Sky will look to pick up back-to-back wins for the second time this season when they take on the Washington Mystics on Tuesday night.
