Denver Nuggets Russell Westbrook Fined $35K For Obscene On-Court Gesture NBA

Russell Westbrook played an important role for the Denver Nuggets this past season. He still had up-and-down performances, but made key plays during his team’s playoff run that helped prove that he has plenty left in the tank.

The soon-to-be 37-year-old will be looking for a new home this summer, and the oddsmakers at Bovada have released the lines regarding where Westbrook will end up.

Heat, Mavericks Lead The Russell Westbrook Sweepstakes

Westbrook could have returned to Denver, as he had a player option in his contract for the 2025-26 season that was worth $3.4 million. But it was announced that he declined the extension this past weekend, making him a free agent, free to sign with any team.

Which teams have the best odds of being Russell Westbrook’s seventh stop in the NBA?

  • Miami Heat (+260)
  • Dallas Mavericks (+325)
  • Sacramento Kings (+500)
  • Golden State Warriors (+750)
  • Orlando Magic (+750)

The Miami Heat lead the way, as they often do in cases like this. While he’s struck out often in recent years, team general manager Pat Riley is often searching for the next star to bring to South Beach. Westbrook isn’t exactly that at his advancing age, but he could be a veteran piece who would have a chance to be the Heat’s starting point guard. Miami is listed as a +260 favorite.

Another possibility, according to the sportsbook, is the Dallas Mavericks. Their point guard position carries a question mark going into 2025-26, given Kyrie Irving’s injury recovery.

With his rough return date being January 2026 (at the earliest), Dallas will likely be looking for a viable replacement to get them through the first months of the season. One like Westbrook, who could slide back into a bench role upon Irving’s return, would be their best bet. The Mavericks have a designation of +325 on the odds board.

The next two teams on the list are the only California-based teams that Russell Westbrook has yet to play for. The Sacramento Kings (+500) are in need of a point guard after trading away De’Aaron Fox last season, and the Golden State Warriors (+750) could look to add some depth and a veteran presence who can back up Steph Curry.

The Orlando Magic come in with the same +750 line as the Warriors to round out the top five.
