Ja Morant

The Memphis Grizzlies pulled off a blockbuster trade over the weekend when they sent Desmond Bane to the Orlando Magic. The move has brought on questions about the team’s future and whether they’ll look to hold a fire sale and get rid of their other top players. The two names to watch are Jaren Jackson Jr. and Ja Morant, the latter of whom has odds on which NBA team will be his next.

Raptors Favored To Be Ja Morant’s Next NBA Team

According to the Bovada sportsbook, the Toronto Raptors and Sacramento Kings are the most likely destinations for the 25-year-old point guard.

The Raptors have been given the shortest designation of any team at +400. They’ve been mentioned in rumors regarding a handful of players already this summer, including Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo. It appears that we can add Morant to that conversation as well.

They could certainly use a point guard. Immanuel Quickly was productive when he was available in 2024-25 (17.1 ppg, 5.8 apg, 37.8% 3PT), but he struggled with injuries and appeared in just 33 games. Ja Morant would bring play making and star power to a team desperate for both, and the Raptors have the assets to try to get a deal done.

Ja Morant Next Team Odds

  • Toronto Raptors (+400)
  • Sacramento Kings (+500)
  • Brooklyn Nets (+700)
  • Miami Heat (+800)
  • Portland Trail Blazers (+900)

They own each of their first round picks from now until 2031, including the 9th overall selection in the upcoming 2025 NBA Draft. Young guys like Grady Dick could be dangled as a part of a potential package, and they could make the rest of their top players available in order to bring in the players that they want.

Kings, In Need Of A PG, Aren’t Far Behind

After trading away De’Aaron Fox this past season, the Kings are in need of a new floor general as well. It will likely be the team’s top priority this NBA offseason, along with possibly making changes to their current core. Bovada believes that Morant is a likely option for Sacramento, and have them listed at +500 on the board.

But do the Kings have anything that the Grizzlies would covet? They have no first round pick in 2025, and their excess draft assets won’t come in until 2027 and 2031. It is rumored that Sacramento could be looking to move any one of DeMar DeRozan, Zach LaVine, and Domantas Sabonis, or perhaps even two of them. Would that be anything the Grizzlies are interested in, though?

The Brooklyn Nets (+700)  and Miami Heat (+800), who have reportedly had their focus on Kevin Durant, are next on the list. The Portland Trail Blazers round out the top five at +900.
