The Miami Dolphins and Pittsburgh Steelers completed a blockbuster trade on Monday morning. Two All-Pro secondary players will exchange places, with Jalen Ramsey headed to Pittsburgh and Minkah Fitzpatrick returning to Miami. The move has been the talk of an otherwise quiet time for the NFL, and one former Dolphins player shared some choice thoughts about the situation on social media.
Former Miami Dolphins Player Speaks Out After Jalen Ramsey Trade
Running back Raheem Mostert had a late-career resurgence with Miami in recent years. He was one of the most productive players in the league in 2023, finishing with the most rushing touchdowns (18) of any player, and enjoyed the first 1,000-yard campaign at the age of 31.
But both his production and usage took a nose dive this past season. Devon Achane became the feature back in the offense, and Mostert managed just 278 ground yards and two touchdowns in the 13 games that he played. He became expendable to the Dolphins, who were looking to get younger at the position, and was released by the team back in February.
Now a member of the Las Vegas Raiders, Mostert had something to say about his former team when the Ramsey/Fitzpatrick trade was announced. He took to Twitter/X to suggest that certain players on the Dolphins’ roster are treated poorly, even if they are Pro Bowl talents like Ramsey.
Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like sh*t. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!! https://t.co/RyDBVE8h1i

Mostert apparently feels like he was one of the ones to be mistreated after his career year a couple of seasons back.
How Accurate Is Mostert’s Statement?
The accusation, at least in the case of Jalen Ramsey, might be a bit misconstrued. The soon-to-be 31-year-old began his trade demands earlier in the offseason, which came as a surprise given his short yet productive time in Miami. He had recently received a pay raise too, after already having been one of the highest paid cornerbacks in the NFL.
For the Dolphins, the move feels like a win. They did have to ship off Pro Bowl tight end Jonnu Smith in the deal, but ultimately saved roughly $10 million in the swap. In exchange, they are getting back a three-time All Pro who is 28 years old and still under contract for two seasons.
Fitzpatrick was originally drafted by the Miami Dolphins in 2018. He was traded after just one season due to conflicts with the coaching staff at the time. He immediately becomes the premier piece in Miami’s secondary, while the team still needs some serious upgrades at the cornerback position.
