Wimbledon 2025 has been peculiar through its first three days. The seeded players are dropping, and the British are shining on their home court. Day 3’s biggest stories are the reported Tsitsidosa breakup and Emma Raducanu’s win.
Tsitsidosa Breakup Is Baffling
I have been a fan of Paula Badosa and Stefanos Tsitsipas individually so when they started dating, I was really happy. Last May, there was brief breakup. Since the reconciliation weeks later, the two seemed solid.

They just sat for a long Tennis Channel interview with Prakash Amritraj at the French Open as part of his Prakash in Primetime show. It was the first time tennis fans saw them interact together for the nearly hour long show. They seemed happy, compatible, and very supportive of each other’s lives on and off the court.
That’s why I am saddened and surprised to hear reports that they broke up. Both suffered disappointing first round losses at Wimbledon, but I hoped they would lean on each other to get though it. And, I have tickets for the US Open Mixed Doubles next month and was hoping to see them play together.
It is unclear when or if we will hear much more on this story before the US Open series after Wimbledon. Perhaps there will be a reconciliation until then.
Emma Raducanu Wins
The Brits have been performing extremely well in the early rounds of Wimbledon. Emma Raducanu, the sole Grand Slam champion of the bunch, made headlines on Wednesday by defeating 2023 Wimbledon champion (and 2025 Berlin Open champion) Marketa Vondrousova. In Berlin, Vondrousova looked like she was back to her 2023 pre-injury grass court prowess so the straight set win by Raducanu was a statement victory for her.

Raducanu deserves to enjoy this victory, but the celebration will be very short-lived as she has World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in her third round match. Raducanu and Sabalenka have played once before, at Indian Wells in 2024, and Sabalenka won 6-3, 7-6.

It will be a rare occasion where Sabalenka will not be the fan favorite, but if Raducanu pulls off that monstrous upset, England will go crazy.
