Wrestling fans can recall events from wrestling decades ago without hesitation.
The crowd at wrestling events makes the event much more special. When the crowd is into it, the show is a lot better.
However, with such an enthusiastic fan base comes a lot of hate towards wrestlers online.
According to CryptoManiaks, wrestlers faced the highest levels of online abuse of any sport.
Wrestlers Receive Most Online Abuse Of Any Sport
CryptoManiaks conducted a study and found that among all sports, wrestlers received the most hate online. Some wrestlers receive a lot more abuse online. This was based on data from April 2024 to the end of April 2025. Here are the results of their study.

Charlotte Flair receives the most online abuse of any athlete. Over 36% of comments towards Charlotte are negative. These are usually comments regarding her appearance, being told she only gets a push because she is Ric Flair’s daughter, and negative comments regarding her personal life. This is an unfortunate thing Charlotte has to deal with, despite being recognized as one of the best to ever do it in WWE.
Nia Jax is second on the list, with just over 35% of comments towards her being negative. Similarly to Charlotte, Nia gets abused online over her appearance. Another thing she gets criticized about is wrestling fans telling her she can’t wrestle and is a danger in the ring. Nia does have a history of hurting other female wrestlers.
The top five on the list are all female wrestlers. They receive negative comments mostly regarding their appearance and being told they can’t wrestle. This is unfortunate, considering women’s wrestling has never been better than it is now.
CM Punk gets the most hate online for a male wrestler. He is a polarizing figure in wrestling. You either love him or hate him; there seems to be no in between. Despite him being polarizing, Punk is one of the best to ever do it. He is superb on the mic and in the ring. He gets hate more for his personality, but there is no denying he is one of the best of all time.
Despite wrestling having an incredibly loyal fan base, a lot of negativity comes from this. Many wrestlers have to deal with a lot of hateful comments online that many other athletes do not deal with.
