Amanda Anisimova is a Wimbledon finalist. The 23-year-old achieved that feat, something that many never get to enjoy. While her Wimbledon run did not end as she would have liked, a thoughtful Anisimova reflected on her tournament in the post-match press conference.
Ever since taking a break from tennis in 2023 to attend to her mental health, Anisimova has looked at the game and her career with a different lens. Instead of getting down on herself or not enjoying it, she has consciously stayed positive and grateful for the rigorous process of being a professional tennis player.
What Amanda Anisimova Learned
Anisimova shared that she did not practice on Friday because she was so fatigued from her grueling Wimbledon semifinal win over Aryna Sabalenka. She also admitted that she felt the fatigue during warmups before the match.
She believes that improving her physicality is the next step in her career. Without ever experiencing the mental and physical toll of getting to a Grand Slam final, it is hard to know how demanding it can be.

Amanda Anisimova already has the game and the maturity. If she improves her physicality, she will be a more dominant player. She comes out of Wimbledon a winner in many ways, achieving her career best in a Grand Slam, beating the World No. 1, and entering the Top 10 in the WTA rankings on Monday for the first time in her career. The sky is the limit for Anisimova, and her honesty, gratitude, and emotional moments at the microphone on Centre Court will only gain her more fans and love as her career goes on.
Gracious In Defeat
Anisimova gave all of us a lesson in being gracious in defeat. Many hope to see her back at Wimbledon (and other Grand Slams) vying for her maiden title. She was once the American woman that was overlooked because of the depth of talent, but that forever changed at Wimbledon 2025.
