Terry McLaurin has been looking for a new contract with the Washington Commanders for months, and there doesn’t seem to be a resolution coming any time soon. That is according to the comments made by the player himself, as the 29-year-old wide receiver ripped into his team with his comments on Tuesday morning.
Terry McLaurin Unhappy With Commanders Front Office
McLaurin has been one of the most consistent receivers in the NFL in recent years. He has posted five straight 1,000+ yard seasons, and has appeared in all 17 games in four consecutive campaigns. He had arguably his best year in 2024, as he caught 82 balls for 1,069 yards, and posted a career-high 13 touchdowns.

In their breakout season, McLaurin was the top target for rookie phenom quarterback Jaden Daniels. He has led the Commanders in receiving yards in every season dating back to his own rookie year in 2019, and has been selected to the Pro Bowl twice.
He wants to be paid like it. On the eve of training camp, there have been no reported advancement in contract talks between Terry McLaurin and Washington’s front office. He sounded off about the situation on Tuesday in front of reporters by saying the following:
“I’ve been pretty frustrated, I’m not gonna lie. Everything that has transpired up until this point has been disappointing and frustrating. I want to continue my career here. I’ve created my life here.”
The comments come on the heels of another wide receiver locking down a high value extension. Just yesterday, the New York Jets made a long term commitment to Garrett Wilson, valuing him at $32.5 million per season. McLaurin has an argument for being more productive over a longer period of time.
Where Does McLaurin Rank Among Wide Receiver Money?
As it stands for 2025, he will be entering the final year of his current contract, and is set to earn just shy of $20 million per year. That ranks 15th in the NFL, just behind Davante Adams and DJ Moore.
Terry McLaurin skipped the entirety of the team’s mini-camp earlier in the summer. When asked whether he would be attending the Commanders’ training camp that starts in one week, he said that he hadn’t yet decided.
