The Sacramento Kings could be in the market for some depth at the point guard position. They already signed Dennis Schroder this offseason as a replacement for the departed De’Aaron Fox, but are reportedly eyeing another veteran piece to add to the rotation at the position. According to local sources, a signing of Russell Westbrook could be on the horizon for the team.
Kings Favored To Land Russell Westbrook
The Kings entered the 2025 offseason as a team with major needs. After being thought of as an up-and-coming franchise just two years ago, Sacramento has stumbled back in to mediocrity as of late, and are projected to be on the outside looking in when it comes to the Western Conference projections for next season.
And they should be.
It’s not done, but it’s been cooking for a while. And there is strong interest from both sides.
I’d say 80-20 he’s a King https://t.co/1MlotQLdhX

In a questionable move at the trade deadline, the team dealt their franchise point guard to the San Antonio Spurs. They struggled during the second half of the season without their leader, and entered the summer with a glaring need at the position.
They weren’t left with many choices, and will be looking to Schroder to provide some leadership on a talented-yet-mismatched roster.
But they may not be done on the free agent market when it comes to ball handlers. There have been rumors floating over the last month about the team’s potential interest in Westbrook, something that was confirmed by a local reporter on Sunday.
Carmichael Dave, a long time radio host on Sacramento’s 1140 KHKT fired off a tweet during the morning hours that featured a prediction on the Westbrook situation. He confirmed that there is a strong interest from both parties, and that there is an 80% chance that the veteran will end up on the Sacramento Kings roster.
