New York Giants Abdul Carter

The New York Giants are coming off another disappointing season.

This led to them having the third overall pick of the 2025 NFL Draft.

With their selection, they took EDGE pass rusher Abdul Carter.

Carter was a slam-dunk choice, as many believe he may be the best player in the draft.

The Giants further bolstered an already talented pass rush.

By adding Abdul Carter, the Giants have a very talented front seven on defense that could position them to be a top-five defense in 2025.

New York Giants Have The Talent To Be A Top Five Defense In 2025

The New York Giants have a very talented front seven. They will be able to generate a pass rush better than most teams in the league can.

Dexter Lawrence, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Brian Burns, and the newly added Abdul Carter pose a major threat to opposing teams.

This will be needed in a tough NFC East, facing QBs like Jalen Hurts, Jayden Daniels, and Dak Prescott.

While the secondary remains a weakness on defense, with as talented a front 7 as the Giants have, they can cover up a weaker secondary by generating a lot of pressure on opposing QBs.

It will not be surprising if the Giants have a top-five defense in 2025.

However, the offense remains a question mark.

Brian Daboll Names Russell Wilson The Starter Despite Drafting Jaxson Dart

Brian Daboll named Russell Wilson as the week 1 starter for the New York Giants.

When asked on CBS Sports why Daboll made that decision so quickly, CBS Sports NFL reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala stated, “My sense here, Amanda, is that is what this team needs. This is a young team that didn’t necessarily have really strong, vocal leadership on offense, and in Russell Wilson, you have a veteran who’s done it, who’s won Super Bowls, who’s been in the big moments.” She continued, “So now, Russell Wilson comes in, he takes command of that locker room. He’s certainly taking command of this huddle, and he’s a voice that these players are really responding to. In naming him the starter, Brian Daboll erased any sort of questions about who the leader is, and he also took some pressure off of Dart.”

The Giants have a bona fide star at WR in Malik Nabers. In his rookie season, which saw him catching passes from the likes of Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito, Nabers had 109 receptions, 1,204 receiving yards, and seven receiving TDs.

Even if Wilson plays the way he did last year in Pittsburgh, which was not very good, it is still an upgrade over Jones, Lock, and DeVito.

The defense will keep the Giants in a lot of games, and Wilson and Nabers are capable of winning some of those games.

It remains to be seen how long Wilson will be under center, but the Giants should be a better team in 2025 than last year.

The defense is very good, and the offense will be improved from last year.
