The Alien franchise heads to television for the first time in Alien: Earth, coming soon to FX and FX on Hulu. Will the series receive critical acclaim? Below are the odds and predictions for the Rotten Tomatoes score of Alien: Earth.

What Is Alien: Earth About?

Alien is famous for the tagline, “In space, no one can hear you scream.” Now, the creatures are coming to terrorize the people of Earth.

Set two years before the events in 1979’s Alien, the prequel series examines an Earth ruled by five corporations: Weyland-Yutani, Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. Humans live together with cyborgs and synthetics.

Alien: Earth introduces the concept of hybrids — humanoid robots with human consciousness. The first hybrid is Wendy (Sydney Chandler).

In the trailer, a Weyland-Yutani spaceship crashes in Prodigy City. The ship is carrying invasive species, which are obviously not friendly.

Wendy and a group of soldiers must investigate the crash, and they quickly come into contact with the “planet’s greatest threat.” As usual, the xenomorph is not too far behind.

Alien: Earth stars Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, Erana James, Lily Newmark, Diêm Camille, and Adrian Edmondson.

Alien: Earth is created by Noah Hawley, the Emmy-winning showrunner behind shows like Fargo and Legion.

Alien: Earth streams on FX and FX on Hulu on August 12, 2025.

Being that it’s the first Alien TV show in franchise history, Alien: Earth should garner solid viewership, especially for the beginning episodes.

Whether the audience increases, decreases, or stays the same during its first season could depend on the critics.

The show does not premiere until August 12, meaning the review embargo won’t be lifted until days before the show.

Polymarket believes the show will be Certified Fresh (over 60%) on Rotten Tomatoes. Where it lands is a tight race, with the favorite figure coming in the 90s (+194). That would be a home run for FX.

The last Alien movie, Alien: Romulus, has an 80% on the Tomatometer.

Alien, Ridley Scott’s masterpiece that kicked off the franchise, has 93%, and Aliens, James Cameron’s follow-up, has a 94%.
