Giants Release Tommy DeVito, Packers Cut Mecole Hardman
The Giants are releasing Tommy DeVito, per source. He was odd-man out from start of summer with Giants adding 3 QBs.
DeVito was a great story as an undrafted free agent. He proved he can play. Went 3-5 as a starter. Has 8 TDs and 3 INTs in 12 career games.

Per ESPN’s Jordan Raanan, the Giants are releasing Tommy DeVito. The Giants were carrying four quarterbacks during the preseason: Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston, Jaxson Dart, and DeVito.
The likelihood of the Giants keeping four quarterbacks on the roster was slim. DeVito is now the odd man out.
DeVito became a cult hero for the Giants when he led the team to three consecutive victories during the 2023 season. The winning streak was highlighted by the Giants’ 24-22 comeback victory over the Green Bay Packers in which DeVito orchestrated the final drive that led to the game-winning field goal.
DeVito, a New Jersey native, completed 17 of 20 passes for 198 yards and three touchdowns in the Giants’ 42-10 preseason victory over the New England Patriots.
DeVito will likely draw interest from several teams looking to add depth to their quarterback room.
Meanwhile, the Packers have released wide receiver Mecole Hardman. The former Pro Bowler signed a one-year veteran’s minimum with the Packers earlier this offseason.
Hardman is best known for his time with the Kansas City Chiefs (2019-2022, 2023-2024). Known for his strengths in the return game, Hardman caught the game-winning touchdown pass in Super Bowl LVIII.

The Cleveland Browns are cutting wide receiver Diontae Johnson. The receiver spent the 2024 season on three teams: Carolina Panthers, Baltimore Ravens, and Houston Texans.
Johnson hauled in 32 receptions for 375 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.
The Jets are cutting 2024 third-round pick Malachi Corley. The 23-year-old could not climb his way up the depth chart despite the huge void behind Garrett Wilson for the team’s No. 2 receiver.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are releasing quarterback Kyle Trask. The 2021 second-round pick was positioned to be the Bucs’ successor to Tom Brady. However, Baker Mayfield beat Trask out in a quarterback competition in 2023. Mayfield has kept the job since.
The New Orleans Saints are releasing quarterback Jake Haener. With Haener out, head coach Kellen Moore will either start Spencer Rattler or Tyler Shough at quarterback.
The Cincinnati Bengals are releasing quarterback Desmond Riddler. Jake Browning will continue to serve as the backup for Joe Burrow.
Wide receiver Robert Woods is being released by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Once thought to be the team’s No. 2 receiver for Aaron Rodgers, Woods will look to play elsewhere in 2025.
