Not only do the Emmas, Navarro and Raducanu, share the same first name, but they also shared the same winning score in their second round matches on Day 4 of the 2025 US Open.
Emma Navarro
Emma Navarro is trying to pick up the pieces from a season that could be described as a sophomore slump. The native New Yorker likes playing at home, evidenced by her semifinal finish at last year’s US Open.
American Emma Navarro, who had lost 5 of her last 6 singles matches coming into the #USOpen and with big points to defend, is back in R3 with a convincing 6-2 6-1 victory over Caty McNally.

She has not dropped a set through her two rounds, and the tenth seed lost only three games against fellow American Caty McNally. The final score was 6-2, 6-1.
Navarro will face the winner of the Barbora Krejcikova and Moyuka Uchijima second round match. Krejcikova has not played much in 2025 due to injury, but she posted an impressive win over the Canadian Open Victoria Mboko.
Emma Navarro needs a strong finish to the season to be eligible for the WTA Finals, the end of year tournament for the top eight seeds. Recall that she was the eighth seed last year but bumped by Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova because of her Grand Slam win.
Emma Raducanu
Emma Raducanu has played well through the summer and hopes to compete in the latter rounds of the tournament she shocked the world by winning as a qualifier in 2021.
Raducanu has allowed her opponents only three games in each round, and she mirrored Navarro’s 6-2, 6-1 score in the second round against Janice Tjen.

Emma Raducanu, ranked World No. 36, could meet her Washington DC doubles partner, Elena Rybakina, in the third round. This would be the ER Battle.
They are in Aryna Sabalenka’s part of the draw. Raducanu nearly defeated Sabalenka in Cincinnati before Rybakina ultimately did.
The Emmas are in opposite ends of the draw so another Battle of the Emmas is not out of the question, but there is a lot of tennis to be played.
