Top Storyline: Will Micah Parsons Play?
Packers LB Micah Parsons has been dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back and he may take an epidural injection prior to Sunday’s game vs. the Lions if needed to help him play, per sources.

In one of the biggest blockbuster trades in recent memory, the Cowboys traded All-Pro pass rusher Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for two first-round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.
Parsons then signed a four-year, $188 million deal with $136 million guaranteed to make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history.
The Packers now have a generational pass rusher on a team that has Super Bowl aspirations.
Parsons’ debut might not happen in Week 1, though.
The linebacker is dealing with an L4/L5 facet joint sprain in his back. He might need to take an epidural to play. Packers’ fans will be waiting for Friday’s injury report to see how Parsons is listed.
Lions vs. Packers: Picks and Best Bets
Lions +2.5 (-118)
This line feels like an overreaction. The Lions were 1.5-point favorites throughout the offseason. Now, the Packers are favored by 2.5. Why?
For starters, the Parsons trade has many people loving the Packers.
The Lions have a new offensive and defensive coordinator to replace Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn. Detroit also lost center Frank Ragnow and right guard Kevin Zeitler.
The Lions still have Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Amon-Ra St. Brown on offense. The bigger addition is Aidan Hutchinson to the defense, who returns from a devastating injury.
The Packers’ hype makes sense after the Parsons trade. Jordan Love is still considered one of the NFC’s top quarterbacks. This team might be dangerous in January, but it’s going to take some time.
The Lions cover in September. Dan Campbell is 11-3 ATS in September. Detroit also has the best ATS record over the last four years (70.2%).
I’ll side with Campbell to cover.
Over 47.5 (-110)
When the Lions and Packers meet, points are scored at a high rate.
Since 2018, the Lions and Packers have gone over 47.5 points in three of the last four matchups.
Even with Hutchinson back, the Lions are still vulnerable on defense.
Green Bay was fourth in defensive EPA, but a lot of that was due to ranking fourth in takeaways. Expect some regression in the turnover department.
The first one to 30 points wins, which should lead to the over.
