Aryna Sabalenka had two Grand Slam losses to Americans in 2025, and she was not about to go throught it again. She lost the 2025 Australian Open to Madison Keys, and she lost the 2025 French Open to Coco Gauff.

Amanda Anisimova had beaten her in the Wimbledon semifinals, but the World No. 1 played the cleanest and best Grand Slam final of the year. Sabalenka’s unforced error count was low, and she kept her composure at the dicey moments of the match.
For Anisimova, it is a monumental achievement to make two Grand Slam finals in a row. I personally believe there is a Grand Slam title in her future, and hopefully, the third one is the charm.
For Sabalenka, she is the first woman to win consecutive US Opens since Serena Williams over 10 years ago. It is her fourth Grand Slam win (two Australian Opens and last year’s US Open).

Sabalenka also continues her stronghold on the World No. 1 ranking. She came in with the most pressure, having lost two previous Grand Slam finals this year.
She fell to the ground in relief. Tears were in her eyes.
Anisimova will enter the World Top 5 when the new rankings come out for the first time in her career.
