Pat McAfee Speaks On The Murder of Charlie Kirk

The public assassination of political figure Charlie Kirk has dominated the news cycle for the last 24 hours, and some of the sports world is reacting. Pat McAfee was one of the morning show personalities who decided to give his thoughts on the situation, doing so in a four-minute statement on Thursday morning.

Pat McAfee Shares His Thoughts On Charlie Kirk

Before he touched on the Kirk situation, McAfee opened his show with a tribute to the victims of September 11th, 2001. Thursday marks the 24-year anniversary of the tragic and globe-altering event, and respects were paid across the country, including on essentially every sports media outlet that broadcasted during the day.

After the show’s introduction, McAfee turned his attention to the backlash and fallout from the Charlie Kirk murder. While he did briefly touch on the event itself, McAfee’s statements were focused more on the effects it will have. He spoke about the issue of hatred for people simply due to their opinions, and how people from different backgrounds and locations naturally have different views on things.

“I think even though you might not have believed in or felt the same way that Charlie Kirk felt about a lot of things…we can’t just hate people forever because we disagree with one or two things that they feel. We gotta move forward. We’re in this thing together.”

Yankees Receive Backlash From Recent Decisions

Elsewhere in the sports world, the New York Yankees are taking some heat for their decisions in the past couple of days. Before their game against the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday, the team held a moment of silence in remembrance of Charlie Kirk, a move that was met with criticism across social media.

Then, it was announced that President Donal Trump would be in attendance at Yankee Stadium on Thursday night. His presence will be part of the tribute to the local lives lost in the September 11th events, and will come after he attends a memorial at the Pentagon in Washington, DC.
