The Miami Dolphins looked like one of the worst teams in the NFL during the league’s opening weekend, and the fan base is already fed up. According to reports, there will be a banner that reads “FIRE MCDANIEL FIRE GRIER” flown via airplane over Hard Rock Stadium before Sunday’s home opener.
Dolphins Fans Fed Up With Team’s Leadership
After on offseason full of unanswered questions, the Dolphins fell flat on their faces in Week 1 against the Indianapolis Colts. Their performance was putrid on both offense and defense, and they start the season with the worst point differential of any team in the league (-25).

There was plenty to prove for Mike McDaniel and his team this season, as it was seen as a make-or-break year for the 4th-year head coach. Coming out of the gates the way that they did during Opening Weekend has already frustrated the fanbase, who are putting their money where their mouths are.
Earlier this week, a GoFundMe was established for an entity hoping to raise enough money to fly a banner over Hard Rock Stadium in South Florida on Sunday.
Banner Calling For Firings Will Fly On Sunday
The goal has apparently been met, as it was announced on Thursday that the plan would be coming to fruition. From 11am until 12pm, during peak tailgate hours, a plane will fly over the Dolphins’ home field with a banner trailing that reads, “FIRE MCDANIEL FIRE GRIER”. The NFL restricts the airspace over their stadiums beginning an hour before game time.

Chris Grier has been the Dolphins’ general manager since 2016, and the team has failed to win a single playoff game under his watch. McDaniel helped Miami reach the postseason in each of his first two years as head coach, but fell short for the first time in 2024.
The 0–1 Dolphins will play host to the 0-1 New England Patriots. The betting line for the game had Miami listed as 1.5-point favorites to start, and the line hasn’t shifted since it opened.
