Legal Troubles For Tyreek Hill Could Ultimately Keep Him In Miami

The poor showing by the Miami Dolphins in Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season made them look like one of the worst teams in the league. The situation between the team and former All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill was already a volatile one, and the lack of firepower on opening weekend was enough for fans and the media to drum up trade speculation.

Dolphins Apparently Getting No Trade Offers For Tyreek Hill

Based on reports, however, there doesn’t seem to be much interest on the open market. Or at least interest that opposing teams are willing to make public.

After enjoying two career seasons with the Dolphins in 2022 and 2023, Tyreek Hill showed a bit of a regression last season. He failed to reach the 1,000 yard plateau and tied his career-low in touchdowns, and didn’t have a reception of more than 30 yards after Week 1. Frustrations grew, so much so that Hill removed himself from a pivotal Week 18 matchup when things weren’t going Miami’s way.

After that season-ending loss, Hill questioned his future with the team, even leaving reporters with the following quote:

“I’m out, man.”

There were hopes that the relationship could be mended in the offseason, and Hill certainly said all the right things in being apologetic for his actions. But the frustration showed again last Sunday in the loss to the Indianapolis Colts, and the rumor mill regarding the future of Tyreek Hill began to spin faster.

But on Saturday, it was reported that the Dolphins haven’t received any trade calls. Adam Schefter confirmed the information, which conflicted other reports from earlier in the week.

The validity of the news is questionable. There are plenty of franchises around the league that should be interested in adding offensive firepower like Hill would bring, including his former team in Kansas City. There are reasons, however, why inquiring teams may want to keep their names out of the related headlines.

Hill’s Legal Troubles Could Keep Him In Miami

In what is becoming a somewhat regular occurrence, Hill has been in the news recently for his off-field issues. Just this week, it was revealed that his ex-wife Keeta Vaccaro was claiming 8 different instances of domestic abuse, which included pulling her hair. It is just the latest in a growing laundry list of Hill’s character concerns, and would likely be enough to deter any teams from wanting to trade for him.

Publicly, at least.

The Dolphins are looking to bounce back in Week 2 against a divisional opponent in their home opener. The oddsmakers at sportsbooks across the country like their chances against the New England Patriots, as they have been favored by 1.5 points for much of the week.
