Cincinnati Bengals Super Bowl Odds Dive After Joe Burrow Injury

The Cincinnati Bengals entered the 2025 NFL season with the 6th-shortest Super Bowl odds of any team at +1400. But that figure has grown considerably after their Week 2 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, as it appears that quarterback Joe Burrow could miss a significant amount of time.

Bengals Could Be Without Joe Burrow For 3+ Months

During the second quarter against Jacksonville, Burrow took a sack and ended up on the bottom of a pile of bodies. The Bengals quarterback remained on the ground, before hobbling off of the field and into the blue injury tent. He then attempted to make his way back to the locker room, but needed assistance from athletic trainers to do so.

It was then reported that Burrow was diagnosed with turf toe.

There were hopes that the ailment would be a minor one, but Cincinnati’s worst fears may be coming true in the next couple of days. Burrow is set to meet with a foot specialist on Monday, which will determine whether or not surgery is required. If it is, the MVP candidate could be out for three months.

With backup Jake Browning inserted into the game, the Bengals were able to pull off a victory against the Jaguars. The 29-year-old QB out of Washington went 21 for 32 and threw two touchdowns, but he was picked off three times as well.

Browning is in his third year with Cincinnati, but didn’t attempt a single pass in 2024. In 2023, however, he started 7 games in Burrow’s absence and had a record of 4-3.

Sportsbooks See Cincy’s Super Bowl Odds Dip

The sportsbooks don’t love the Bengals’ chances of staying afloat this year. Their Super Bowl odds had already risen from +1400 to +2000 after their lackluster showing in Week 1, but that number has now doubled. Due to the potential of the team to be without Joe Burrow until at least mid-December, they are now at 45/1 to win it all. All of this despite starting out 2-0.

As of Sunday evening, that puts them behind the Commanders, Buccaneers, and Broncos on the Super Bowl odds board.

Things won’t be easy for Browning. The Bengals are facing a brutal schedule stretch that will take them to mid-October, in which time they’ll take on the Vikings, Broncos, Lions, Packers, and Steelers.
