Kansas City Chiefs Focused On Their Own WRs, Not Tyreek Hill

With both the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs struggling, there has been one specific rumor that has run rampant amongst NFL fans. Tyreek Hill’s frustration in Miami is well documented, and Kansas City is (still) struggling to find an explosive playmaker for their offense. But according to a report from The Athletic’s Dianna Russini, neither team is currently exploring the option of a wide receiver trade.

Chiefs Nor Dolphins Interested In Tyreek Hill Trade. For Now.

Miami still believes in their talent. They’ve started the season 0-2, and have looked like one of the league’s worst teams at times during the first two weeks. There is still a belief in their building, though, and the team is still trying to win with the pieces that they have. Tyreek Hill is a big part of what they are attempting to accomplish, and there doesn’t seem to be any rush to trade arguably their most talented player.

The Chiefs are winless during the first two weeks of the season for the first time since 2014, and the lack of weapons around Patrick Mahomes is one of the culprits. An already shaky wide receiver group has taken some hits with Rashee Rice suspended and Xavier Worthy injured, leaving them with Marquise Brown and Tyquan Thornton at the top of their depth chart. Adding a speedster like Tyreek Hill sounds like an enticing proposition, especially as someone who has plenty of rapport with Mahomes.

But according to Tuesday’s report, Kansas City is focused on getting Worthy healthy. They’re also patiently waiting for Rice’s six-game suspension to expire, at which time they’ll have an improved stable of offensive weapons. That’s the hope, at least.

Of course, things could change on both sides. If the Dolphins continue their losing ways into October, they could turn into sellers at the trade deadline, and Hill would be an obvious candidate. Kansas City could be one of the interested parties if things don’t go to plan with Rice and Worthy. But whether it is with the Chiefs or not, there is a strong chance that the Dolphins trade the former All-Pro wideout by early November.
