The Miami Hurricanes are officially one of college football’s best teams this season.
The Hurricanes moved to 4-0 following a dominant defensive performance in Saturday’s 26-7 victory over Florida (1-3).
The Hurricanes held Florida to 141 yards of total offense and prevented them from succeeding on third down (0/13 on third downs). Florida quarterback D.J. Lagway finished 12 of 23 for 61 yards, the worst yardage showing since 1999.
With the victory, Miami moved to No. 2, jumping LSU and Penn State. It’s Miami’s highest ranking since 2017.
Miami has a bye before returning on Oct. 4 to play at Florida State. Florida also has a bye before their home game against Texas on Oct. 4.
Can Indiana Make The College Football Playoff Again?

Coming into the season, many experts predicted that Illinois could be the unexpected team to make the College Football Playoff. Many cited Indiana’s CFP journey in 2024 as a similar path Illinois could take.
After Saturday night, the team that could “pull an Indiana” is Indiana.
The No. 19 Hoosiers (4-0) defeated No. 9 Illinois (3-1) by an impressive score of 63-10. Indiana scored the most points by a Big Ten team against an AP top 10 opponent in history.
The Hoosiers gained 579 yards of total offense compared to Illinois’ 161. Illinois only recorded two rushing yards and nine first downs.
Even if Illinois runs the table and doesn’t lose again, it will be difficult for the College Football Playoff Committee to erase the Indiana game from their memories.
Indiana will have several chances to improve their resume this season. The Hoosiers have road games at Iowa, No. 6 Oregon, and No. 2 Penn State. If Indiana can somehow win two of those three, their 2025 resume is significantly stronger than in 2024.
Indiana travels to Iowa on Sept. 27.

Texas Tech (4-0) lost its starting quarterback, Behren Morton, during Saturday’s game against Utah. Will Hammond replaced Morton in the second half and didn’t skip a beat.
Hammond finished 13 of 16 for 169 yards and two touchdowns in the 34-10 road victory at Utah.
The Red Raiders jumped five spots in the AP Poll to No. 12, the school’s highest ranking since 2013.
Texas Tech is now tied with Iowa State as the only Big 12 teams at 4-0. (Several Big 12 teams are 3-0.)
However, the Red Raiders’ win at Utah is by far the best win in the conference to date.
Texas has a bye week before playing Houston on Oct. 4.
