Vikings vs. Steelers Odds and Predictions

No J.J., no problem.

Without J.J. McCarthy, the Minnesota Vikings embarrassed the Cincinnati Bengals 48-10. Carson Wentz, who started in place of the injured McCarthy, finished 14 of 20 for 173 yards and two touchdowns.

The real story of the game was Minnesota’s defense, which flustered Jake Browning and the Bengals’ offense for four quarters.

Isaiah Rodgers set a Vikings record with two defensive touchdowns, including an 87-yard interception return. As a whole, the Vikings’ defense forced five turnovers and four sacks.

For Pittsburgh, Aaron Rodgers orchestrated a nine-play, 62-yard fourth-quarter drive that ended with the go-ahead touchdown pass to Calvin Austin III with 2:16 left. Pittsburgh held on to beat the New England Patriots 21-14.

Pittsburgh’s defense has not been the typical top 10 unit to start the season. The Steelers managed to win the turnover five to one.

However, Pittsburgh has allowed the fifth most yards per game (386.0), the sixth most rushing yards per game (139.3), and the seventh most passing yards per game (246.7).

While Rodgers can still make impressive throws on the run, his mobility is limited. That’s not an encouraging sign against a Brian Flores defense that blitzes more than most teams.

The Vikings have allowed the third-fewest passing yards per game (141.3). If Wentz can take care of the ball and come away with field goals instead of turnovers, Minnesota’s defense should propel the team for the cover.

Pick: Vikings -2.5 (-120)

Vikings vs. Steelers Prop

Rodgers came out swinging in Week 1, throwing for 244 yards and four touchdowns.

Since Week 1, Rodgers has finished his past two games with 203 yards and 139 yards, respectively.

On the flip side, Minnesota has only allowed a 200+ yard passer in one of three games (Caleb Williams in Week 1).

If the Vikings apply heavy pressure to Rodgers to force him out of his comfort zone, then the Vikings can hold the four-time MVP to under 200 yards passing.

Pick: Aaron Rodgers Under 203 Yards Passing (-114)
