The Houston Texans have started the season 0-3. They are winless through three games, having lost all three by a single score.

  • Week 1: Los Angeles Rams 14 Houston Texans 9
  • Week 2: Tampa Bay Buccaneers 20 Houston Texans 19
  • Week 3: Jacksonville Jaguars 17 Houston Texans 10

The Houston Texans are one of six teams to start the season 0-3. Vegas oddsmakers had the Texans as the clear favorites to win the AFC South before the season.

The defense has not been the issue. Houston has allowed 20 or fewer points in each of their first three games. The Texans are tied for fourth in the league in sacks and are in the top 10 in completion percentage allowed.

Houston, We Have A Problem

The offense has been dreadful for the Texans. Offensive Coordinator Nick Caley is under fire for Stroud’s regression this season. In a road matchup against the Jags, Stroud threw two picks and was sacked twice. He mustered up just one TD drive, which was a 50-yard TD pass to Nico Collins.

On the season, Stroud is completing just 64% of his passes, is averaging 199.7 passing yards per game, two passing TDs, and three interceptions. The Texans rank 26th in passing yards per game.

Houston’s rushing attack has not fared much better. They rank 23rd in the league in rushing yards per game, averaging 95 rushing yards per game through three weeks.

Nick Caley’s offense is being criticized for being vanilla. There is no motion or creativity. In three games this season, the Texans have not scored more than 19 points.

Houston’s offense has been a major issue.

Houston Texans’ Schedule Is Daunting

While the Texans had two tough matchups to begin the season, facing the Rams and Bucs, the schedule does not lighten up.

Still on Houston’s schedule are the Ravens, 49ers, Broncos, Bills, Colts (twice), Chiefs, and Chargers this season.

This is a daunting schedule, and the Texans are in severe jeopardy of losing most of those contests.

The offense will need to improve quickly for the Texans to be able to turn their season around.

If Nick Caley continues to struggle as the OC, his time will be up as the OC sooner rather than later.

After winning the AFC South two straight years, the Texans are in jeopardy of not making the playoffs and will find it challenging to win games with their difficult schedule.

Houston could have a high draft pick by the end of the year.
