The Los Angeles Dodgers entered the 2025 MLB season as the heavy betting favorites to win the World Series. They spent the entirety of their schedule at the top of the odds board, but that designation has changed with the postseason set to begin.
MLB Odds: Phillies Overtake Dodgers As World Series Favorites
The Philadelphia Phillies were one of the best teams in the regular season, and finished with the second-best record of any MLB team. Their mark of 96-66 was just one game worse than the Milwaukee Brewers, and three games better than the Dodgers.

Because of their regular season performance as well as their potential path to the World Series, the Phillies are now favored to win it all. According to the DraftKings sportsbook, Philadelphia is listed at +450, ahead of the Dodgers, who come in at +500. Due to the third place finish in the NL by Los Angeles, they will be forced to play in the Wild Card Round, and are set to take on the Cincinnati Reds in a best-of-3 series.
Mariners, Dodgers Both Listed At +500
Tied with the Dodgers on the World Series odds board are the Seattle Mariners. Their +500 designation was earned thanks to a 90-72 record, and their first AL West division title since 2001. They have earned a first round bye for the upcoming postseason, and will face the winner of the Wild Card series between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians.

The Brewers, who were overall the top team during the 2025 campaign, are tied with the Toronto Blue Jays in terms of World Series odds. Both teams are listed at +800, which is good enough for the 5th lowest of any of the remaining teams. The New York Yankees are the other team in the top-5 at +700.
At the end of the day, the 2025 World Series odds highlight just how wide open the upcoming season could be. The Phillies may hold the edge, but the Dodgers and Mariners are right on their heels, underscoring the razor-thin margin separating the top contenders.
The MLB Playoffs are set to begin on Tuesday.
