Oregon Picks Up Massive Victory Over Penn State

The Oregon Ducks are the biggest winners in Week 5 after a tough 30-24 double-overtime win over No. 3 Penn State.

The Ducks were led by sophomore quarterback Dante Moore, who finished 29 of 39 for 248 yards and three touchdowns. Moore looked like a proven veteran in a hostile Happy Valley environment, controlling the game while converting 5 of 7 fourth-down attempts.

Death, taxes, and Penn State head coach James Franklin losing another big game. Franklin is 41-21 at Penn State against AP top 10 opponents. That number includes a 1-18 record against Big Ten teams ranked in the top 10.

With the victory, Dan Lanning’s Ducks jump to No. 2, while Penn State moves back to No. 7.

In Week 6, No. 2 Oregon (5-0) has a bye week, while No. 7 Penn State (3-1) travels to UCLA.

Ole Miss Proves They Are One Of the SEC’s Best Teams With Win Over LSU

After beating Clemson in Week 1, LSU looked like a national title contender. Brian Kelly’s team still could make the College Football Playoff.

However, Lane Kiffin and No. 13 Ole Miss improved their chances of making the CFP after defeating No. 4 LSU 24-19.

Ole Miss won this game with a 6-foot backup quarterback, Trinidad Chambliss, who completed 23 of 39 passes for 314 yards and one touchdown. Chambliss also finished with 71 yards rushing on 14 carries.

Chambliss replaced the injured starter, Austin Simmons. After his play against LSU, Chambliss has done enough to make Kiffin’s decision a difficult one when Simmons comes back.

In Week 6, No. 4 Ole Miss (5-0) and No. 13 LSU (4-1) are on byes.

Alabama Goes Into Georgia And Stuns The Bulldogs

Georgia has arguably been the most dominant team in college football over the last five seasons.

The one thorn in their side has been Alabama, as the 17th-ranked Crimson Tide went into Athens and defeated No. 5 Georgia 24-21. The loss ended Georgia’s 33-game home winning streak, the longest active run in college football.

Dating back to 2008, Alabama has now won 10 of the last 11 against Georgia.

Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson turned in an excellent performance — 24 of 38 for 276 yards, two touchdowns, and zero interceptions.

The difference in the game was third-down efficiency. Alabama finished 13-19 on third down, while Georgia ended the game 2 of 8.

In Week 6, No. 10 Alabama (3-1) hosts undefeated No. 14 Vanderbilt (5-0), while No. 12 Georgia (3-1) hosts Kentucky (2-2).
