The list of professional tennis players prematurely shutting down their 2025 seasons has grown to include World No. 19 Daria Kasatkina. Kasatkina, formerly competing for Russia, switched her citizenship to Australia this year.
Kasatkina is typically a fun-loving player who is frequently smiling and laughing with her peers at practice sessions. She was one of the first active players to start her own YouTube channel and document her worldwide travels on the WTA Tour. Called “What The Vlog,” Kasatkina has 69,000 followers. Her most recent episode was at the US Open.
What Daria Kasatkina Said
In a lengthy social media post, Kasatkina says she is mentally and physically at a breaking point, hitting a wall, and describes herself as far from fine.
She adds that she has not been fine for a while and kept a lid on her feelings so as not to be viewed as a complainer.
Kasatkina describes the monotony of travel, tennis, suitcases, and repeating it over and over for a long season.
She mentions that she is joining the 2025 tap out club which also includes Elina Svitolina, Beatriz Haddad Maia, and Paula Badosa.
Too Much Tennis Continues To Be Headline
As players opt out of the Asian swing, it is clear that the tennis schedule is too full and too long. It is difficult for the players to stay physically and emotionally healthy amid the tireless travel and tournament schedule.
Iga Swiatek, Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and Novak Djokovic are among the players who have discussed this issue in the past week.
Amanda Anisimova, who took an extended break in 2023, is proving that players can step away from the game and succeed when they return.
With her success as a guide and the field of women diminishing, the 2025 tap out club, as Kasatkina called it, may grow in numbers over the next few weeks.
