Amanda Anisimova withdrew from the Wuhan Open on Monday citing a left calf injury, one day after her victory at the 2025 China Open.

Iva Jovic, the American teenager who won the WTA 500 Guadalajara Open last month is now into the main draw as the lucky loser.

Wuhan Open Draw

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is back in action at the Wuhan Open.

She is the defending champion of this event, but she sat out the rest of the Asian swing with an injury. The last we saw her, she was hoisting the US Open trophy in New York.

Jessica Pegula and Mirra Andreeva will be competing for the last spots in the 2025 WTA Finals. Both are in the running but have not locked in their spots yet.

Sabalenka, Swiatek, Gauff, Anisimova, and Keys have qualified.

Elena Rybakina, Jasmine Paolini, and Ekaterina Alexandrova are also fighting for a spot though Paolini has already qualified in doubles with her partner Sara Errani.

Andreeva is qualified in doubles with Diana Shnaider so she and Paolini are opting to be the dual threats this year in Riyadh.

Olympic champion and Chinese tennis star Qinwen Zheng will not be competing as she continues to deal with elbow issues from her summer surgery.

This is the time of year for the younger players to earn as many ranking points as possible to finish the year as highly ranked as possible.
