NFL Odds: Josh Allen Is No Longer The MVP Betting Favorite

The Buffalo Bills have lost two games in a row after a 4-0 start, and now find themselves in second place in the AFC East. And thanks to the resurrection of the Kansas City Chiefs, the NFL odds boards have shifted dramatically after Week 6.

Bills Loss Shifts NFL Betting Markets

The Bills entered the season as the Super Bowl favorites, and kept that designation through the first month of the season. With teams like the Ravens, Chiefs, and Eagles showing vulnerability early on, Buffalo came into Week 6 listed as a +450 favorite to win it all, with the Detroit Lions trailing at +700.

The statement win by the Chiefs on Sunday night combined with the Bills’ upset loss on Monday has created co-favorites. Both AFC teams now share +650 odds to win the Super Bowl.

There is a co-favorite situation in the NFL MVP race, as well. Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen is looking to win the honors in back-to-back years, and was a heavy favorite after the first four games. On September 30th, he was listed at +150, with the nearest competitor being Patrick Mahomes at +800.

Both Allen and Mahomes have seen their figures shift after the weekend’s results. They both have designations of +200.

Look For The Bills To Rebound Before Big Matchup vs. Chiefs

For a time, it looked as though the Bills were going to run away with the AFC, and certainly their own division. But both races are now in question after one-third of the regular season in the books, but they will have some time to figure things out. They are headed into their bye week in Week 7, and will take on the Carolina Panthers when they return to action.

One of the biggest games of the first half of the season will come the following week. On November 2nd, the Chiefs will travel to Western New York to take on the Josh Allen and company, a game that could prove critical down the stretch in the race for home field advantage in the AFC.
