The Buffalo Sabres have a very loyal fan base. The fans are well aware the Sabres have not played a single Stanley Cup playoff game since 2011, and have not won a single playoff series since eliminating the New York Rangers from the Eastern Conference semifinals in 2007. So it is not surprising one bit that we have been hearing chants of “Fire Adams” at the Keybank Center. It is in reference to Kevyn Adams, the Sabres General Manager, who has been the person responsible for making the important player decisions in the Sabres organization since 2020. Do not be surprised that if the Sabres fire Adams in the not too distant future, that head coach Lindy Ruff is fired as well.
In the short term, the Sabres have a record of zero wins and three losses after three games in 2025-26. Let’s take a look at how the Sabres lost their first three games of the season over the last week.
Loss to the New York Rangers
Buffalo’s first NHL loss this season was a 4-0 loss to the New York Rangers this past Thursday. The Sabres were completely blown out by a Rangers squad that scored all four goals in the contest. New Rangers captain J.T. MillerĀ and former first overall pick Alexis Lafreniere each had a goal and an assist, while the other two Rangers goal scorers were Carson Soucy and Adam Fox. Rangers goaltender Igor Shesterkin made 37 saves for the shutout.
Loss to the Boston Bruins
On Saturday, the Sabres scored once, but was not enough in a 3-1 loss to the Boston Bruins. Boston was led offensively by Mark Kastelic, who had one goal and one assist for two points. Meanwhile, Sean Kuraly and Pavel Zacha also scored.
Loss to the Colorado Avalanche
On Monday, the Sabres were beaten 3-1 by the Colorado Avalanche. Nathan MacKinnon was the Colorado superstar as he scored twice. Cale Makar scored the game-winning goal.
One of three teams without a win
The Sabres are one of three teams without a win. So far the other two teams without a victory are the New York Islanders and San Jose Sharks. However the Sharks do have two points, as both of their losses have been in extra time.
The team the Sabres could have had
Among the players Adams have traded include Taylor Hall, Rasmus Ristolainen, Sam Reinhart, Jack Eichel, Kyle Okposo, Erik Johnson, Matthew Savoie, and Dylan Cozens.
