San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been ruled out for the team’s Week 8 game against the Houston Texans.

For the sixth time this season, Purdy will not play for the 49ers.
The fourth-year quarterback has been dealing with a toe injury since Week 1.
Speaking of Week 1, Purdy has only made two starts this season: Week 1 against the Seattle Seahawks and Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
In Week 1, Purdy engineered a come-from-behind victory over Seattle. Purdy threw a touchdown pass to tight end Jake Tonges with 1:34 remaining in the fourth quarter to give the 49ers a 17-13 lead. San Francisco held on to win.
Purdy finished 26 of 35 for 277 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Purdy struggled in Week 4’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Purdy completed 22 of 38 passes for 309 yards, two touchdowns, and two interceptions.
Week 8 marks the fourth consecutive game that Purdy has missed.
Where would the 49ers be without Mac Jones?
Jones has been a godsend for the 49ers. The former first-round pick with the New England Patriots is 4-1 as the 49ers’ starter this season.
For the season, Jones is 130 of 194 for 1,404 yards, six touchdowns, and four interceptions with a 67.0 completion percentage.
Jones is coming off a Sunday Night Football victory over the Atlanta Falcons.

It’s a minor miracle that the 49ers are 5-2. It’s a testament to their talent and Kyle Shanahan’s coaching staff.
Other 49ers that have been ruled out for Sunday include wide receiver Ricky Pearsall (knee), center Jake Brendel (hamstring), and defensive end Bryce Huff (hamstring).
The 49ers’ defense is hurting right now with the losses of Nick Bosa and Fred Warner. Look for the 49ers to add an edge rusher or linebacker before the trade deadline.
One of the players who has been healthy is running back Christian McCaffrey. The former Offensive Player of the Year is playing like a top running back again.
McCaffrey has 132 carries for 465 yards and three touchdowns. McCaffrey has been valuable in the passing game, with a team-leading 53 receptions on 68 targets for 516 yards and three touchdowns.
Without Pearsall, Jones will be throwing passes to Jauan Jennings, Demarcus Robinson, and Kendrick Bourne. Thankfully for Jones, tight end George Kittle returned to the lineup last week.
San Francisco heads to Houston to play a Texans team with a sensational defense that allows the fewest points per game (14.7).
The 49ers face the Texans (2-4) on Oct. 26 at 1 p.m. ET.
