Italian singles and doubles tennis player Jasmine Paolini has earned the honor of a lifetime at the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics. The Olympics are scheduled to begin on February 6. 2026 in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.

Paolini will be one of 10,001 torchbearers at the Olympics. She has been the face of Italian tennis for years earning three singles and ten doubles WTA titles. Her level of play at the Billie Jean King Cup has been instrumental in0 Team Italy winning the BJK Cup for two straight years. Her successful partnership with Sara Errani resulted in Olympic gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Paolini and Errani are also the reigning Italian Open and French Open champions.
Jasmine Paolini Is Not The Only Tennis Player Involved
Retired Italian player Flavia Pennetta is also expected to be a torchbearer. Pennetta, who is married to the recently retired Fabio Fognini, is a Grand Slam singles (2015 US Open) and doubles champion (2011 Australian Open).
The selection of Paolini and Pennetta speaks volumes about the importance of Italian tennis, enjoying a heyday in both the women’s and men’s game with World No. 2 Jannik Sinner.
