Giants Trade Rumors: Kayvon Thibodeaux Could Be Dealt By The Deadline

The New York Giants showed some signs of life early in the 2025 NFL season, which mostly surrounded their young players and rookies. But now that they’ve been affected by major injuries, the team may look to punt on the current campaign, and could make certain players available ahead of next week’s trade deadline.

Giants Could Make Thibodeaux Available For Trade

Could pass rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux be one of the names on the trading block?

A former 5th overall pick by the Giants, Thibodeaux has been one of the team’s most productive defenders during his four years in the league. He recorded 11.5 sacks during his second season, and has a total of 23.5 career sacks in 51 games played. He is considered to be on one of the upper tiers when it comes to NFL pass rushers, and he is young enough to be a valuable commodity for New York.

Thibodeaux may be expendable, however. Over the past two offseasons, the Giants have spent some serious capital bolstering their pass rush. In 2024, they traded for Brian Burns and gave him a contract worth $141 million, and they used the 3rd overall pick in the 2025 Draft on Abdul Carter.

That means that Thibodeaux could be the odd man out, especially if the team looks to make a move before the November 4th trade deadline. The soon-to-be 25-year-old is in the fourth year of his rookie contract, and the team picked up his 5th-year option for the 2026 campaign. Any team interested in his services would likely have to agree to a contract extension upon acquiring him, but his youth could make him a more viable option for teams instead of aging stars like Trey Hendrickson and Bradley Chubb.

Which Teams Would Be Interested In Pass Rushing Help?

Which teams could call the Giants front office with inquiries?

The 49ers should be one of the first ones on the phone. At 5-3, San Francisco still has championship aspirations but face a closing window, and their pas rush has taken a serious hit since Nick Bosa went down with injury. They’ve been mentioned in rumors involving both the aforementioned Hendrickson and Chubb, but they may choose to pursue younger pieces to build with the future in mind.

The Cowboys are in the market for a pass rusher, but it is unlikely that the Giants would do a deal with their division rival. The Detroit Lions could be looking for help at the position as well.
