Ahead of the No. 4 trade deadline, the Tennessee Titans are sending cornerback Roger McCreary to the Los Angeles Rams.

Titans Trade Roger McCreary

McCreary is heading to LA.

Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Titans are trading McCreary and a conditional 2026 sixth-round pick to the Rams for a 2026 conditional fifth-round pick.

The Titans have since announced the trade.

The Titans selected McCreary in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Auburn. McCreary is in the final year of his rookie deal.

Rather than letting McCreary play out the rest of the season and trying to re-sign him, the Titans are selling McCreary now at a high price to secure a draft pick in return.

McCreary has 33 total tackles, one sack, and one interception in eight games this season. McCreary predominantly played in the slot on defense, but he has experience lining up on the outside.

The Rams add much-needed depth to their secondary with the McCreary trade. Cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon is out with a broken clavicle and would not be able to return until later this season.

Cobie Durant, Emmanuel Forbes Jr., and Darious Williams have been rotating in since Witherspoon’s injury.

Rams head coach Sean McVay made the move for McCreary because of his versatility. With 38 career starts, McCreary brings experience to a young Rams defense.

“Based on some of the things that are going on with us, we felt like it was a smart move,” McVay said via ESPN. “And then once we get him in here, we’ll get a feel for the best way to take advantage of his skill set, where that fits.”

The Rams (5-2) plan to make a deep playoff push thanks to their talent on both sides of the ball. Los Angeles could easily be one of the last teams standing in the NFC.

Titans Looking to Be Sellers at the Deadline

The McCreary trade is the first move of many expected to happen in the next week.

Per Schefter, the Titans are reportedly willing to move every player on the roster besides two: quarterback Cam Ward and defensive lineman Jeffrey Simmons.

The Titans (1-7) are going through a significant rebuild. The organization fired head coach Brian Callahan earlier this month.

Keeping Ward and Simmons gives the Titans players to build around on both sides of the ball. The Titans should be active the next few days before the trade deadline. Stockpiling as many draft picks as possible in the coming years will help the rebuild.

The Titans host the Los Angeles Chargers (5-3) in Week 9.
