After the injury to Joe Alt, should the Los Angeles Chargers trade for a lineman ahead of the deadline?

The Chargers’ offensive line took a massive hit on Monday.
The team announced that Alt will undergo season-ending surgery on a high ankle injury he suffered in Sunday’s 27-20 win over the Titans. The surgery will knock Alt out for the rest of the 2025 season.
“Feel bad for Joe,” Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh said on Monday. “I know it’s going to be OK. It’s not going to be life-altering. Feel bad for him.”
Alt sustained the injury late in the second quarter when his leg was rolled up. Alt previously suffered an ankle injury in Week 4’s loss to the New York Giants. The second-year tackle missed three games following that injury.
With Alt’s injury, the Chargers don’t have their two starting tackles for the rest of the 2025 season. Rashawn Slater suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon during practice in August.
Jamaree Salyer replaced Alt at left tackle in Sunday’s win.
Alt was not the only Charger who suffered an injury on Sunday. Right tackle Bobby Hart left the game with groin and ankle injuries. Trey Pipkins III replaced Hart in the first quarter.
Harbaugh said he doesn’t expect Hart to be placed on injured reserve. Harbaugh mentioned that Salyer, Pipkins, and Austin Deculus will be rotated in at tackle.
Right guard Mekhi Becton missed Sunday’s game with a knee injury.

With mounting injuries to the offensive line, the Chargers might need to make a deal for reinforcements ahead of the Nov. 4 trade deadline.
Tennessee Titans lineman Kevin Zeitler would be a seamless fit for the Chargers. Zeitler played for the Ravens from 2021 to 2023, when Chargers general manager Joe Hortiz worked in Baltimore.
Zeitler, 35, is on a one-year deal, and it would not cost a lot to get him.
Speaking of the Ravens, Baltimore offensive lineman Ben Cleveland continues to slide out of Baltimore’s rotation. Hortiz was also in Baltimore when the Ravens selected Cleveland in the 2021 draft.
Would the New York Giants be willing to part ways with former first-round pick Evan Neal? The team will likely hold onto Neal this season, but an offseason trade is definitely a possibility for the struggling lineman.
The Chargers (6-3) face the Pittsburgh Steelers (5-3) in Week 10.
