Tennis legend Kim Clijsters made news last month when she ruptured her Achilles tendon at the Luxembourg Ladies Tennis Masters. Clijsters underwent surgery immediately to repiar the tendon. She was hospitalized in Luxembourg before traveling home to New Jersey to be reunited with her family.

Unfortunately, Clijsters has not had a smooth and seamless recovery. She took to Instagram to share how things have been going.

Clijsters shared that she suffered a fall in her home while making an overnight trip to the bathroom.

She explained that she could either fall on her face or put her bad leg down. Clijsters said it happened so fast that she instinctively put the leg down in an effort to break the fall.
The result was she re-ruptured the Achilles and required a second surgery in under a month to repair it.
Clijsters shared the reality of being immobile as a wife and mother and feeling down and a bit useless.
On the bright side, she appreciated that she was filming her latest Instagram update outdoors on a sunny day.
Ruptured Achilles On The Rise
There was a time where the phrase “ruptured Achilles” was rarely heard, but it has becoming disturbingly commonplace in professional sports.
Clijsters is not the only tennis player who is recovering from it right now.
Holger Rune is also dealing with it.

The timetable for his return is unknown, but Rune continues to train in a creative way and is seemingly keeping his skills and spirits up during the healing process.
