The Tennessee Titans are looking for their next head coach. The odds suggest the Titans are looking for a candidate with head coaching experience.
Titans Looking For New Coach
From @NFLGameDay Kickoff: The #Titans fired coach Brian Callahan after a rough tenure that didn't even last two years. Among the names to watch in what should be a coveted job are former #Titans OC Arthur Smith and #Chiefs OC Matt Nagy (along with many others). pic.twitter.com/gx8iepNieZ

The Titans only gave Brian Callahan six games in 2025 before making a change.
On Oct. 13, the Titans fired Callahan after a 1-5 start to the 2025 season. Callahan’s tenure ended with a 4-19 record as the head coach of the Titans.
Because of his offensive experience as a coordinator, Callahan was viewed as an ideal fit for rookie quarterback Cam Ward. Obviously, things did not go according to plan, as the Titans are last in total offense (244 yards per game) and scoring (14.4 points per game).
The Titans named Mike McCoy as the interim head coach. McCoy is 0-3 this season.

The Titans have already begun their coaching search. Many of the same names from last year’s coaching cycle have come up.
The name that jumps out is Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy (+300). Nagy coached the Chicago Bears for four seasons, from 2018 to 2021.
In his first year, Nagy led the Bears to a 12-4 record and their first NFC North title since 2010. The Bears lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card round.
Nagy also led the Bears to the playoffs in 2020 before losing to the New Orleans Saints.
Nagy was fired following the 2021 season. Because Nagy led the Bears to the playoffs with Mitch Trubisky as his quarterback, Nagy will likely get a second chance to be a head coach, even if it’s not in Tennessee.
Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator (+400) will likely be the top candidate for teams looking to hire a young offensive coordinator. Because Callahan flamed out in Tennessee, it’s unlikely the Titans will go with another rookie head coach.
Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith (+500) coached in Tennessee from 2011 to 2020. Smith went 21-30 in three seasons as the Atlanta Falcons’ head coach.
The familiarity with the Titans’ organization could be what separates Smith from the other candidates.
Mike McCarthy (+1000) is an interesting candidate. Although McCarthy flamed out with the Dallas Cowboys, he did go 12-5 in three consecutive seasons and helped elevate Dak Prescott.
Developing Ward is the top priority for the next Titans coach. McCarthy has a proven track record of developing quarterbacks, including Prescott and Aaron Rodgers.
