Detroit Tigers
Torres has already proven that he is a strong fit for what the Tigers are trying to build. The team’s biggest issue in recent years has been inconsistent offensive production, especially from the infield, and Torres helped stabilize that when he arrived before the 2025 MLB campaign. Bringing him back would preserve that progress instead of forcing the team to search for another reliable bat.
With the Tigers looking to stack winning seasons, Torres is still young enough to be a part of that core without requiring a risky, long-term deal. His familiarity with the coaching staff as well as Comerica Park’s dimensions gives him an advantage over external options. For a franchise trying to climb into true AL Central contention, retaining a known, productive, clubhouse-fitting player like Torres is a logical and valuable move.
Seattle Mariners
The Mariners should be interested in Gleyber Torres because he fits a lot of what their roster and long-term strategy need. Seattle has been looking for consistent infield offense, especially from second base, and Torres brings exactly that. Even in seasons where he’s not at his peak, he’s reliably a league-average or better hitter with 20-plus home run power as well as postseason experience.
Defensively, Torres is steady enough at second base, and pairing him with J.P. Crawford would give Seattle a dependable middle-infield combination. He doesn’t require the same massive long-term commitment as the very top free agents, giving the Mariners flexibility to be able to make him an offer.
San Francisco Giants
San Francisco has struggled with lineup consistency, particularly from the middle infield, and Torres offers a reliable solution. He’s a proven home run threat with above-average contact skills, and his ability to hit both righties and lefties makes him a strong fit.
